1930's

Jazz and Swing music, along with movies and plays with themes of hope were central to American life as we dealt with the worst economic crisis of the Stock Market Crash.   Starting with the Great Depression and into the Second World War, the 1930's were marked with changes.   Simple forms of recreation like radio shows, miniature golf, jigsaw puzzles and monopoly helped to entertain Americans.  Despite the hard economic times, some sweet treats were introduced including Twinkies, Snickers, Tootsie Pops, Rolos, Smarties and so much more.
